Queen's Park East Turf Field Official Opening February 4th... updated 10:47 2012-01-18

Members of RCYSC are invited to take in the official opening of New Westminster's newest (and finest) sports pitch, Queen's Park East Artificial Turf Field!

Join us as we celebrate the culmination of many years of working with the City of New Westminster in achieving the creation of a much needed additional turf field. While it may be the city's second turf field, it certainly isn't second to any other!

The official kick-off was rescheduled due to the snow. Please note the new date: 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012. After a few words from selected guests, Royal City Youth Soccer Club, a major backer of the project, will be on hand to present the city with a cheque and we'll also have our U8 boys take to field in organized scrimmages!

The RCYSC Executive hopes all of our members, wearing their uniforms or team apparel, are able to join the celebration at the new Queen's Park East Artificial Turf Field!

2012 Winter Academy Sessions Updates... updated 23:31 2012-02-01

Important notice # 1 for Academy registrants: Due to the snow at the end of January, RCYSC has changed the final session dates to the following:
Last Boys Academy - Thursday March 15th 5:15 - 6:30
Last Goalies Academy - Thursday March 15 5:15 - 6:30
Last Girls Academy Thursday March 15th 5:15 - 6:30
All sessions are at the Queens Park East Turf.
Important notice # 2 for Academy registrants: The Girls Academy has been collapsed into a single session each week (down from two). All Girls Academy participants attend each session from 5:15 - 6:30 on Fridays at Queens East.

A must for all coaches: MED Making Ethical Decisions... posted 08:00 2012-01-02

BCSA has restructured their Coaching certification pathway. They have removed the Making Ethical Decisions (MED) component of the course work and it is now under the Coaches BC (NCCP) umbrella as MED is not a sports specific designation. This must still be completed as part of your coaching certification with BCSA. It is a very important part. This certification component is transferable to any sport. To facilitate RCYSC coaches obtaining this component, we have organized 2 sessions with Coaches BC and all coaches are strongly encouraged to participate in one of the following sessions:

In advance of a countrywide formal announcement and launch by the Canadian Soccer Association (CSA) on January 23rd, 2012 in conjunction with Canada's Olympic Qualifying matches, BC Soccer can confirm that a new national coaching certification pathway and program is being implemented from 1 January 2012. Queens East Sees Limited Opening... updated 23:34 PM 2011-12-11

RCYSC teams were the first to use the newly renovated Queens Park East field over the weekend of December 10th and 11th, 2011. The spectaular facility, once a worn down grass field, now sports a beautiful, multi-sport, high grade, artificial turf surface capable of hosting soccer, field lacrosse and softball matches year round.

Royal City Youth Soccer Club is a proud financial contributor to the project and is excited about the prospects of being able to have fewer cancelled games and practices due to unplayable conditions on our heavily used grass fields. More details will be posted here when the official opening ceremony is announced.

A new shipment of the highly popular base layer under shirts is on order. The youth sizes sold out during the photo weekend, so if you are looking for a quality technical shirt, at a very attractive price, you will need to act fast when they arrive! Youth Sizes are available in YS, YM, YL and YXL and only cost $20 a shirt. Please note that these shirts do not have the RCYSC logo silkscreened on them - so you can use them across multiple sports.
