RCYSC Academy Sessions Winter 2012

  • Our goal at the Academy is to prepare players to challenge for the highest level of soccer available to them at their age group, for this year and beyond. Each session consists of a minimum 1 hour of training with RCYSC's technical directors, and often includes a scrimmage session to apply the skills worked on in game situations.

    Registration is mandatory. No unregistered players will be allowed to participate. Anyone wishing to make special arrangements can contact the Registrar or Club Manager.
    Technical Directors will NOT accept registration at the field, nor will they collect any registration fees. All payments and registration are to be done online. There is a registration button next to each session. Please click the button and sign up there.

    * Please note that all goalkeepers need to attend the 5:00 pm session on January 12, 2012. The on-field instructors will divide all registrants into two groups. Once it is determined which group a participant is in, changing of groups is not allowed. For all subsequents sessions, goaltenders will attend the session for the group they have been assigned to. Registering for Group 1 or Group 2 will not guarantee that you will have that time slot - the on field instructors will assign all registrants.

    The Royal City Youth Soccer Academy is run by the club's Technical Directors, Gerry Heaney, Ian Wakeling, Sava Miljanic, and other high calibre assistants. These are quality instructors who have all coached the beautiful game for many years and have played for many more. Attendees receive quality instruction and training at every session. While other, larger programs, tend to favour the elite player, RCYSC's approach is more inclusive and strives to make every attendee the best soccer player he or she can be. Every week, skill based sessions evolve from basics through to advanced challenges. The club is very proud to offer a unique opportunity for goalkeepers this season as we've teamed up with Simon Smith Goalkeeping Academy to deliver elite training for this special position!

  •     The training that players receive at RCYSC's Academy rivals that of other programs for less than half of what most of those programs charge

  •     These are serious sessions designed for players who are dedicated and motivated

  •     Previous academy attendees include:
    ...All the members of the Royal City Ravens - 2007-2008 U11 Girls North District Champions
    ...All the members of the Royal City Salsa who went undefeated in league play in back to back seasons from - 2008-2010.
    ...Most members of the 2009-10 U12 Girls District Finalists, Royal City Tigers
    ...Several players who are now playing Silver or Gold level soccer within the club, nearly two dozen Metro level soccer players, and more than half a dozen HPL players.

  •     Even players who haven't advanced to the higher levels have become better, more confident players who perform well for their team

  •     Coaches are welcome to come out to learn, share, and participate, then take the concepts and drills back to their teams to continue the training process.

  •     Registration is only available online.  




    Please note: The Academy may need to relocate on short notice due to weather or field conditions. Remember to check www.rcysc.com for notification of changes before you head off to the field.

  • Registration must be completed online.
  • Registration fee for Academy sessions must be paid in full regardless of how many of scheduled sessions a participant attends. Attending each session gives you the best value for your registration fee.
